Voy a escribir muy brevemente como poner en modo monitor una tarjeta wireless.

Habitualmente para poner en modo monitor una tarjeta wireless hacemos lo siguiente:

# iwconfig ath0 mode monitor

Pero yo recibia este mensaje:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device ath0 ; Invalid argument

Lo que habria que hacer es lo siguiente:

#wlanconfig ath0 destroy
#wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode monitor
#iwconfig
